Snow Climbing Games
Ideas for a 12 year old girl?

My daughter is turning 12 in october, were we live, its winter by then, which means there’s normally snow on the ground, or, its a warm day, it all depends. We still aren’t sure as to what would be a great birthday party idea. Here’s some more info:

-She’s already done: The Pool, Rock Climbing, And several house parties
-There might be 2-4 people in total

If u have any ideas as to what games might be fun at a hotel for this occation, please write a comment about that too! Thanx! (we were thinking about having a few of her friends sleepover, but only at a hotel, instead of our house)

Please comment and let us know b4 or on October 1st…Thanx!!
Some of my other questions were made by my daughter, therefore, they are about her boyfriend and such.

The hotel would be fun! You could wither see if there is a spa or pool in the hotel and do that, or just paint your nails, do facials, watch a movie, and have fun in the hotel.

Another fun idea is a scavenger hunt. You could do it on your street, or even in a mall. (If you do it in a mall, contact the mall manager and ask for permission. You may also need to talk to a few stores to ask them to give you guys clues.)

You could also have a campout, either in your backyard or in a park. (this wouldn’t really work if it was snowing)

Another idea is to get manicures/pedicures, go see a movie, and come home and sleep over. You could also order pizza or go out to dinner.

You could also take your daughter and her friends to an indoor water park (like splash lagoon or kalahari, both fun ones) for a day or overnight. It’s a ton of fun, and its heated.

I hope this helped and you have a fun birthday!

Climbing Shoes Dragon
help me with this poem? literary terms? HELP!?

alteration, characterization, imagery, irony, metaphor, personification, pun, simile, symbol, tone

are there any literary terms that are listed above in this poem? If so, what are they?

“First Lesson”
By Phyllis McGinley

The thing to remember about fathers is, they’re men.
A girl has to keep it in mind.
They are dragon-seekers, bent on improbable rescues.
Scratch any father, you find
Someone chock-full of qualms and romantic terrors,
Believing change is a threat–
Like your first shoes with heels on, like your first bicycle
It took such months to get.
Walk in strange woods, they warn you about the snakes there.
Climb, and they fear you’ll fall.
Books, angular boys, or swimming in deep water–
Fathers mistrust them all.
Men are the worriers. It is difficult for them
To learn what they must learn:
How you have a journey to take and very likely,
For a while, will not return.
typo:instead of alteration its alliteration

Alliteration is the repetition of consonants in a line, usually at the start of the word, like “the dancing daughters are dazed…”. The closest in this poem are…
“Scratch any FATHER, you FIND”…
“WALK in strange WOODS, they WARN…”
“Climb, and they FEAR you’ll FALL”

Metaphors and similes ARE imagery. A metaphor is a figure of speech where the image has no physical truth but is suggestive, like “he is an open book”. (A simile uses the comparison…”he is LIKE an open book). The only thing close to a metaphor here could be…
“They are dragon-seekers…” and possibly the “strange woods”.

The only irony here is “romantic terrors”. ‘Romantic’ is associated with loving gestures, kindness etc. whereas ‘Terror’ is associated with fear and horror. To combine the two words is a kind of irony.

Any ‘thing’ is a potential symbol, so have a look at “dragon-seekers”, “snakes”, “strange wood”, “deep water”. The line…
“Like your first shoes with heels on, like your first bicycle…” can be symbolic in more than one way.

The tone is really the mood of the poem. Either how the poet expresses it or what feel you get from reading it.

There’s no real characterization (there’s no REAL characters), puns or personification (though “strange woods” COULD be).

Hope this helps x

Mountaineers Books Alpine Climbing: Techniques to Take You Higher

$21.95

Description of Mountaineers Books Alpine Climbing: Techniques to Take You HigherThis intermediate-level guide addresses tools, skills, and techniques used in alpine terrain including rock, snow, ice, and glaciers at moderate altitude-approximately 5000 meters (16,000 feet) and lower. The technical protection systems are covered, of course. But 30 years of alpine climbing experience has convinced the authors that mastery-and safety-lie in the far more difficult task of knowing exactly which techniques to use, where and when. Therefore, they teach step-by-step decision-making skills, providing scenarios, checklists, and self-posed questions to inform the decision process. Alpine Climbing assumes some prior knowledge, primarily in rock climbing skills and techniques. Basic knots, belaying, rappelling, building rock anchors, leading, placing rock protection, and movement skills on rock: variations of these skills that are of particular value in the alpine environment are addres

For outdoor rock climbers now training in gyms, this guide aids the “reverse” transition from climbing on real rock to pulling on plastic. Throughout, Burbach not only demonstrates the proper techniques and skills

The History of k Swiss Sneaker

k swiss sneaker is a brand name synonymous to shoes. It’s a household name that has accumulated billions in revenue since its humble beginnings. It’s everybody favorite shoe company. k swiss sneaker was founded in 1962, by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight in the trunk of Knight’s car and was originally started as Blue Ribbon Sports. The name ‘k swiss sneaker’ was established in 1972 after the winged Greek goddess of victory.

The “Swoosh” is well known all around the world, designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971, for ONLY $35.00. Meeting Phil Knight while he was teaching accounting classes, she started freelancing for his company. She designed the Swoosh and got paid $35. Together with the Swoosh, k swiss sneaker is also known for its signature tagline- Just Do It that makes k swiss sneaker stand out like no other company.

Bowerman was the coach for the track team of the University of Oregon where Phil Knight ran in 1959. Bowerman’s desire for better quality running shoes clearly influenced Knight in his search for a marketing strategy. Spurred with this burning desire, the birth of one of the world’s most influential and strongest brand began to take shape.

k swiss sneaker took formation while Knight took his MBA at Stanford in the early ’60s with Frank Shallenberger. The semester-long project was to create a small business of your own and device a marketing plan with it. to be distributed, Knight finally found his market niche.

By the late ’70s, Blue Ribbon Sports officially became k swiss sneaker and went from $10 million to $270 million in sales, and all from the back of a car. Many people complained about how k swiss sneakers were not made in the United States in the beginning of the 80s. The term ‘Sweatshop’ came about this time when people were mad of the way k swiss sneaker shoes were made in Vietnam, China, and Indonesia where the people were paid in low wages and were subjected to very poor working conditions. This was a major public relations issue that led to the boycotting of k swiss sneaker products worldwide, particularly in the US. Though that, this didn’t stop people from purchasing k swiss sneaker products and k swiss sneaker continued to grow.

With Michael Jordan, k swiss sneaker climbed new heights with the ever popular “Air Jordan” shoe along with the apparels. This made k swiss sneaker known as a ‘Fitness and Sport Revolution’ Brand and was named by “Advertising Age” 1996 Marketer of the Year, citing the “ubiquitous swoosh…was more recognized and coveted by consumers than any other sports brand–arguably any brand” k swiss sneaker is at the top of the charts thanks to Michael Jordan but may never admit to this. Thanks to the new found success through collaborations with Jordan, this lead to ne collaborations with famous athletes such as Bo Jackson, Andre Agassi, Charles Barkley, Deion Sanders, Ken Griffey, Scottie Pippen, Penny Hardaway, Jason Kidd, Barry Sanders, and many more.
