Climbing involves a perfect balance of mental, physical and technical skills. With regards to the physical, it will be more of an intense workout than most any other sports. To give an example of another “discipline” so as to relate it- yoga is a perfect complimentary exercise. This is because both of these involve a lot of muscular stretching and dynamic strength.
Rock climbing will be half static motions: prolonged tensing of muscle fibers with slower movements, and half dynamic motions: explosive fast movements. Climbing involves the whole body, every little muscle is involved. It will promote a special kind of endurance as well.
